Term
since 2021
Project identifier

GRACE-FO provides inter-satellite range observations with unprecedented precision due to the new laser-ranging interferometer (LRI) which is expected to finally yield an improvement of a factor 5 to 50 compared to GRACE. This project focuses on exploiting the potential of the LRI-system for gravity field recovery. We will continue to improve the stochastic modelling and will augment the equation system for additional ocean-tide parameters to be estimated in a combined gravimetry/altimetry adjustment. In parallel, we will explore the so-called extended acceleration approach, which adds two condition equations to the standard low-low satellite-to-satellite equation.
