Grüner has developed a multiplexed small-molecule screening platform with which she has identified key factors in cellular lipid and energy metabolism as mediators of metastatic ability in pancreas carcinoma. She will now determine in detail the mechanism by which tumour cell metabolism governs the transition from a non-metastatic to a metastatic cell state and identify targetable key players. She will take advantage of the CRC’s know-how in cell biology, epige-netics, as well as chemistry and mass-spectrometry and combine it with her expertise in can-cer metastasis research and in vivo compound screening.
