There is a permanent interest on the research of the dynamics of mechanical and mechatronic systems. Beside classical methods of modeling and model identification new methods have attracted much attention in many scientific disciplines. Nevertheless, the application of such methods on mechanical and mechatronic disciplines was still in its infancy at the beginning of the current project in 2021 but has in the meanwhile attracted much attention. Within the project two methods, namely Sparse Identification of Nonlinear Dynamics (SINDy) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are considered. These methods have been applied to a number of nonlinear systems, namely a bistable energy harvesting system, a rotatory oscillator and a drum brake. In the second period of the project additional excitations and systems are considered as well as the methods are further developed and adapted to the considered exemplary systems. New time series of the rotatory oscillator are examined as well as the drum brake added with external excitation and the dynamics of vessels is considered.
