Investigations of components based on the ultrasound technic to evaluate their internal structure or for condition assessment is the state of the art. By means of fluidic components, an innovative method for robust and energy efficient, air-coupled ultrasound actuation shall be developed. The measurement area efficiency will be increase by a multiple compared to traditional surface coupled actuation systems. This breaks current technical and economical barriers and enables new applications in civil engineering. This proposal describes the basic research of this method: the physical-technical process during air-coupled ultrasound actuation as well as the transfer of the ultrasound signal shall be analysed. The yields the basement for additional basic research as well as the transformation of this method into practical use.
