Project A7N focusses on lipid mediators (LMs) that control inflammation triggered by fungal infections. A7N will elucidate the mechanisms how A. fumigatus modulates LM networks in the host and how LM derivatives contribute to the deleterious impact of the fungus or help the host to resolve the infection. We will also define at which stage specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) impact fungal infections, which immune cells are involved besides neutrophils, in which cells LM production is controlled by A. fumigatus and whether secondary metabolites other than gliotoxin play a modulatory role.
