In subproject A07 sophisticated computational tools based on high-fidelity models will be developed to augment monitoring of the operational conditions of implants. New paradigms in computational mechanics based on well-developed models and computational techniques will be incorporated, namely, model order reduction and data augmented modelling (surrogate modelling) to provide physicians with tools to complement classical monitoring systems with bio-physically based mathematical models. This subproject will initially focus on two implant systems, namely cochlear implants and hip joint stem endoprostheses, a transfer of the models to further medical disciplines is planned for the following funding periods.
