Project Details
Interplay of spin-orbit coupling and superconductivity in few-layer transition metal dichalcogenides (B09)
Subject Area
Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 314695032
Project B09 aims at providing a microscopic understanding of the underlying mechanism for superconductivity and its interplay with Ising spin-orbit coupling in a selected class of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs)-based systems. The project is divided in two intercorrelated yet complementary work packages, WP1 and WP2, focusing on monolayer and twisted bilayer systems, respectively, and for which the leading pairing mechanism is still under debate. Screening and retardation effects by the phonons will be treated on the same footing in a scheme that incorporates the underlying lattice structure and multi-orbital features.
