The focus of Project A01 is on two components of a dialog that influence each other mutually in the process of explaining. The first component is a partner model that is developed for the task of explaining and can already be assessed before a dialog commences (cognitive adaptivity). The second component is the adjustment of the partner model that takes place during and because of the unfolding dialog (interactive adaptivity). The aim of this project is to study the adjustments to formulate a dynamic computational model (in conversational agents) of the process of adaptive explanation generation that can foster understanding.
