Project Details
Chemical prestressing of folded and shell shaped carbon-reinforced concrete (C06)
Subject Area
Structural Engineering, Building Informatics and Construction Operation
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 417002380
The primary goal of the project is to develop a method for prestressing folded and shell-shaped carbon reinforced concrete structures in order to achieve higher stiffness and reduced cracking or crack width. An expansion agent is added to the cement, which leads to a positive volume change within the concrete, which generates tensile stress in the carbon reinforcement through the bond. This technique avoids unfavorable strong transverse pressure on the reinforcement and prestresses the reinforcement grid very evenly. Curved or folded geometries in particular can be prestressed very easily using chemical prestressing.
