Impact of cirrus clouds on tropopause structure (B07)

We will study the effect of gravity waves and turbulence on the formation and life cycle of cirrus clouds and the resulting implications for the tropopause structure. We will utilize theoretical model reduction techniques, to identify dominant processes on different spatial and temporal scales, as well as hierarchical modeling approach for the development of corresponding parameterizations in large-scale models.
