Project Details
Damage and failure in the Fe-Mn-Al-C system (C06)
Subject Area
Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term
from 2007 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 29898171
This work aims to identify the limits of ductile failure by exploring and analysing conditions that show brittle failure and to identify the underlying mechanisms of embrittlement. Also it aims for an improved understanding of the mechanisms that suppresses the delayed fracture behaviour in aluminium containing high Manganese steels. Multiscale crystal plasticity based model taking into account temperature, strain rate and considering the temperature dependent deformation mechanisms (SLIP, TWIP & TRIP) in combination with stress state dependent damage, coupled with hydrogen diffusion and embrittlement mechanisms will be developed.
