Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 327154368
The project investigates self-pumping transpiration cooling using additively manufactured porous structures. It focuses on the interplay between permeability, capillary-driven flow, and evaporation under thermal loads. Experiments on gyroid and gradient structures use PIV, IR thermography, interferometry, and transient grating spectroscopy. Studies on blockages and salt crusts provide realistic insights for high-temperature applications. The goal is to improve cooling performance by gaining a better understanding of the underlying physical processes.
