The aim of this project is to improve the Discuss Data platform and to make it available to new communities. To this end, the infrastructure will be further developed and, in addition to the model community on the post-Soviet space, the platform will be prototypically expanded by two community spaces. This will make it possible to further expand the platform to include additional communities in the medium term. The open platform for the publication and discussion of research data on the post-Soviet region, which has been developed as open source software since 2017 and has received funding from the DFG, will be expanded into a modular service and supplemented with additional functionalities. Discuss Data offers target-group-specific and low-threshold solutions for the challenges of ensuring the quality and transparency of digital research data. In the second funding phase, additional academic communities will now be integrated into the platform by introducing new dedicated community spaces. In order to operate several community spaces in parallel and at the same time independently of each other on one platform, a technical separation will be made into generic core components and community-specific features, and Discuss Data will be further developed into a modular and multi-tenancy-capable platform for research data services. In the process, the connection to external services and existing infrastructures will be further expanded and special attention will be paid to technical and organisational sustainability. Among other topics, the focus will be on stronger integration in DARIAH-DE/CLARIAH and networking in NFDIs such as Text+. In addition to the community space for research on the post-Soviet region already available on Discuss Data, which is to be further expanded, two other communities with specific requirements will be integrated: "Digital Humanities" and "Dissent, Samizdat, and beyond". In the course of designing and building the new community spaces, external digital tools and further repositories will be connected to Discuss Data and further institutional collaborations will be established. In addition, archival materials will be integrated into Discuss Data, thus prototypically extending the community-centred approach to research data management to this type of sources, which is essential for historical disciplines.Through outreach and community engagement measures discussions about standards, formats, forms of presentation and re-use linked to research data are carried into the communities. Existing infrastructures and research are thus better linked and, last but not least, the publication of research data is enhanced. Discuss Data II is a cooperative project of the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen, the Göttingen State and University Library and the Herzog August Library Wolfenbüttel.
