NOTICE (Networks of Tissue Responses in Inflammatory Diseases and Cancer) is aimed at clinicians who have already worked scientifically and completed an onboarding program at the Medical Faculty on the path to connecting science and clinic. NOTICE thus fills an important gap, connects existing structures, and enables a sustainable alignment of the Clinician Scientist training portfolio at Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU) Erlangen-Nuremberg. NOTICE addresses an important but mechanistically underrepresented research field. Projects in NOTICE are intended to combine immunomedicine, medical technology, and data science to understand the tissue changes responsible for chronicity. Clinician Scientists in NOTICE will investigate the mechanisms of chronic diseases, specifically how tissue reactions in inflammation and cancer influence the course of the respective diseases.
