Project Details
Precisely Embedded Iron/Nitrogen Catalytic Centers in N-Doped Carbon Nanotubes for Electrocatalysis (B06)
Subject Area
Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 443703006
Under kinetic control employing Fe atom deposition from solution and gas phase monoatomic iron centers will be embedded in N-doped vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Goal is the controlled coordination of iron towards different nitrogen containing groups (pyrrolic, pyridinic) aiming towards formation and characterization of defined FeNx centers which are embedded in an extended carbon framework. These will be studied as single atom catalysts (SACs), e.g. in ORR.
