Project Details
In Situ and Multi-frequency EPR for FeNC Materials and Model Complex (B07)
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Solids and Surfaces, Material Characterisation
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 443703006
Iron catalysis frequently involves paramagnetic states as crucial reaction intermediates. These states are accessible to electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. Herein, EPR is employed for the assignment and characterization of paramagnetic states in iron-nitrogen-carbon (FeNC) catalysts, FeN4 macrocycles and iron doped carbon materials. Development and application of advanced multi-frequency and in situ EPR methods will provide new insight into catalytic mechanisms involving paramagnetic states as well as Fe active site electronic and atomic structures.
