The aim of the proposed project is the development of a novel orthogonal multi-sensor system for online monitoring of biofilm formation at interfaces. With this system, the properties of the biofilm are comprehensively and innovatively simulated, modeled and comprehensively characterized based on thickness, mass, dynamics, vitality and topography. Due to the orthogonal measuring principles, much more reliable statements can be made about the dynamics of biofilm growth than with the previously established methods. Based on the results of this project, users can develop much more well-founded smart strategies for the prevention and control of these biofilms.
