The planned production system is a system made up of modules to spread fibers into a homogeneous tape and fix them with powder. In this way, aligned, homogeneous tapes can be produced from different starting materials, which can be further processed in an AFP or FPP system, for example. Depending on the input material (glass, carbon, basalt ...) tapes with different widths (surface weights) and powder binding (thermoplastic, duroplastic) can be produced. These FixedTows are then processed into fabrics and preforms. In addition to this, the application Tapeleger was submitted for this follow-up process. With the commissioning of the MRM building in cooperation with the University of Augsburg in January 2021, new projects of the research group HSA_comp are planned. The research group deals with the entire process chain for fiber composite and hybrid structures. In addition to the competence centers design, simulation processing and sustainability, the competence of the university in the field of composites was expanded in 2020 with the affiliated institute for textile technology Augsburg. In the further course of this, new funding applications are to be submitted for projects that deal with materials research, especially in the area of hybrid construction.Since the focus of the research group is evolving towards hybrid components, it is necessary to produce your own fiber ribbons. This means that a matrix system can be used for different types of fibers during production. As a result, e.g. glass fibers can be combined with carbon fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. For the envisaged first applications at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, such as the processing of topics relating to artificial intelligence, as well as the production of fiber ribbons from recycled carbon fibers or natural fibers in connection with thermoplastic or thermoset powders, extensive tests can be carried out in these as well as in other areas. The degree of lightweight construction of structures can be further increased through the appropriate combinations of materials. In addition to classic aerospace and automotive structures, the areas of application are also planned in classic mechanical engineering and the leisure industry. Especially in areas that are dominated by metals, reservations about hybrid components - especially fiber composite structures - still exist. With the requested device, the starting materials can be produced in the form of tapes with different fiber types with compatible matrix systems.Since the applications for the production plant and the tape loader are linked and submitted in parallel, there are identical parts in the two applications. These are marked at the beginning of the subsections.
