Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

Center for Regenerative Medicine / Dept. Orthop. Surgery; PI: Aicher: - Investigation of stem cellniches: localisation of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) in human term placenta and investigation of cells and extra cellular matrix surounding MSC in placenta. - Investigation of attachment of MSC to components of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and ECM-derived peptides. These studies are designed to explore the influence of the ECM on differentiation of MSC and to design customized peptides for improved scaffo lds for tissue engineering. - Detection of distinct MSC subsets in perivascular sites. Center for Regenerative Medicine / Dept. Traumatology; PI: Rolauffs / Aicher: - Investigation of cellular localisation and three dimensional cellular patterns of chondrocytes in human cartilage in different stages of development, in health and d isease. Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine Center for Inflammation and Hypoxia; Pl: Köhler; Rosenberger (bis 2010); Eltzschig (bis 2008): - Regulation of Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter (ENT) and Adenosine deaminase (ADA) in Hypoxia and Inflammation - Role of vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP), an actin cellsurface linking protein under hypoxic, ischemic and inflammatory conditions - Regulation and function of neuronal guidance molecules in inflammatory and ischemic processes Dept. of Internal Medicine II / Transplantation Immunology; PI: Kle in: - Analysis of the human hematopoietic stem cell niche role of cell adhesion molecules (special focus: integrin a9b role of extracellular matrix components (special focus: fibulin and laminin family) role of proteolytic enzymes (special focus: cathepsins) - Analysis of tumor cell interactions with the human bone marrow microenvironment - Analysis of T-cell development in the human thymus role of MMPs on thymic epithelial cells role of conduits, a specialized extracellular matrix structure role of perivascular spaces at the cortico-medullary junction Dept. of Internal Medicine II / Transplantation Immuno logy; PI: Pawelek: - Investigation of heat sho ck protein (HSP) expression in melanoma tissue. HSPs play an important role in cancer progression and are up-regulated in a variety of cancer types. In this study the expression of hsp90, hsp70, hsp40 and hsp32 were investigated. - Comparison of lipid rafts in primary vs. metastatic melanoma cell lines. - Expression of cell surface markers on T cells after a ctivation by anti-CD3-CD28-coup led beads.
