The overall goal of the project is to study from first principles some qualitative and quantitative properties of atoms and molecules that are of direct importance to the chemical and physical applications. In particular, we will focus on the ionization energies, binding energies, and valence electrons, which have been understood only in some simplified models. Semiclassical and micro local techniques will play a central role in the analysis of the correlation of electrons.
