The IMB is equipped with state-of-the-art core facilities, which offer service to the entire scientific community in Mainz. The Flow Cytometry Core Facility is equipped with several flow cytometers and cell sorters. The facility is currently using cuvette-based cell sorters, however, upcoming projects require an upgrade of the current instrumentation. The sorter we are applying for should fulfill the following requirement: it should promote milder and more gentle sort conditions. Additionally, fluorescence detection technology in flow cytometry has made a major leap by using full-spectrum detection compared to classical filter-based detection. Furthermore, the cell sorter should be compatible with sorts on BSL-2 level and provide maximum safety for the operator. We therefore plan to extend our current instrument portfolio with a cell sorter that combines the latest advancements of technology.
