Open Access Publication Funding / 2026–2028 / University of Münster

Applicant Dr. Beate Tröger
Term since 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 512473629

Since 2002, members of the University of Münster (UM) and the University Hospital of Münster (UKM) can take advantage of a wide range of publication support services. Both institutions have benefited greatly from the DFG funding program 'Open Access Publication Costs', through financial support for publications by their researchers and through suggestions for the further development of internal processes and accompanying activities to monitor publication and cost figures. However, there are still areas that need to be further improved in the coming years. There will be four main key areas: 1. Interlacing the activities of the University Library (ULB) with the newly founded Münster Center for Open Science (MüCOS), 2. the expansion of the university's research information system in the area of bibliographic metadata with the aim of quality assurance and a more comprehensive collection of publication data for a better overview of the publication output of the university and hospital, 3. the further improvement of publication cost monitoring as well as 4. the establishment of structured data collection and evaluation in the sense of a virtual information budget. Some aspects of the topics 2 and 3 have already been the subject of the previous grant application 2022–2025, but they could not be implemented during the project period. This application will therefore take them up again in light of the current conditions and the "lessons learned" from the previous one.
