Since 2018, Aalen University has been committed to promoting the transformation of the publication system towards Open Access. According to the current status, knowledge about open access publications and funding options, such as available funds, is not yet widely known and established among researchers. The overarching goal of the proposed project is to continue the transformation process that has begun as well as to fully record the publication volume of the university via the repository and to make open access publications available as full texts. Another goal is to expand the knowledge about Open Access and to pass it on to researchers, to offer sustainable open access publication services, and to specifically draw attention to their benefits and added value. In order to achieve these goals, measures are taken to adress in the following three areas: 1. Implementation and further development of the university strategy in the field of Open Access through appropriate guidelines, 2. Optimization, standardization, and automation of infrastructures and administrative processes for collecting publication numbers and costs (central and decentralized ), for applying for publication support and as well as for financing open access publications (funds), 3. Expansion of information services, as well as advisory, and qualification offers for researchers - especially for doctoral students and young scientists. The requested DFG funding is intended to support the realization of these goals, and help to cover the needs with regard to the topic of Open Access at the university, and to actively further strengthen and expand the publishing behavior of researchers towards Open Access.
