The University of Siegen is committed to the open access transformation of academic publishing since 2014. In accordance with its open access policy, the university supports its academics in terms of infrastructure and funding for publishing in green and gold open access. The central elements of the project are publication monitoring, which records the output of academic authors, and the monitoring of publication costs at the University of Siegen, which provides information on the costs generated by publishing. Building on this, a university-wide information budget will be designed, set up and established with the aim of realigning the university's financial flows. Authors will continue to be supported with open access publication funds and participation in transformative agreements, as well as information and advice on open access publishing. The university-wide discourse on academic publishing will be continued in order to find broadly accepted procedures, including for the fair distribution of funds with regard to different career stages and specialist cultures.
