It is a strategic goal of the GIGA to make research results accessible in accordance with the Open Access concept whenever possible. One of the goals of the project is to make even better use of the existing and future opportunities to publish research results in Open Access.Necessary financial requirements are to be identified and opportunities for financing Open Access publishing are to be better utilised. Thus, the internal processes and structures of the GIGA should be further developed to increase the transparency of the costs for the Open Access publications of GIGA researchers and to contribute to the structural change of academic publishing in the context of the "Open Access transformation".
