Leuphana University Lüneburg supports the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities. In line with the guiding principle therein, research results generated at Leuphana should be permanently and freely accessible worldwide, as well as re-usable. Therefore, university members are encouraged to publish their research results open access. In order to provide researchers with comprehensive support for open access publishing and thus foster and accelerate the open access transformation, the existing Open Access Publication Fund at Leuphana is to be proportionally funded by the DFG from 2023 to 2025. Additionally, the prestige of the DFG should contribute to reducing prejudices against open access and strengthen the confidence in this publication practice among university members. The university has developed a sustainable financing concept so that the publication fund can be maintained beyond the end of the funding period. During the period of funding, the organisational structures will be developed in such a way that, on the one hand, services and infrastructures for open access publishing will be aligned with demand and, and on the other hand to systematically create an overview of the university's publication output, publication costs and all available financial resources for publications. In this way, the information budget, the reporting system and the workflows are to be optimised with IT support at Leuphana in order to effectively and permanently establish low-threshold, scalable service offers.
