The Heinrich Heine University (HHU) Düsseldorf supports the Open Access transformation of the academic publishing system. In accordance with its motto „Create knowledge. Sharing knowledge“, it is committed to the goal postulated in the Open Access Strategy of the Universities of North Rhine-Westphalia of establishing the publication of scientific information in Open Access as the standard. HHU participates in many consortium contracts and maintains a central Open Access fund to finance Gold Open Access articles that are not covered by these contracts, as well as monographs and edited volumes. In addition, HHU recognizes the growing importance of Diamond Open Access and is expanding its publication infrastructure. The grants applied for in the Open Access Publication Costs funding program will support and expand the central funding of Open Access publications. In addition, the infrastructure projects started in the first funding phase (2023-2025) will be continued or established on a permanent basis. For example, central publication cost monitoring will be expanded via a clearing center and extended to a virtual information budget. The University Bibliography will be migrated to the Current Research Information System that is currently being set up and offered there as a sustainable service. The trusting, transparent and focussed cooperation of all those involved is the basis of this development.
