Applicant Kathrin Kessen
Term since 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 512793541

The Heinrich Heine University (HHU) Düsseldorf supports, in accordance with its motto "Creating knowledge, sharing knowledge" the free and sustainable accessibility of research results and thus the transformation process of scientific publishing. With this in mind, HHU participates in a number of transformation contracts. In addition, a central Open Access Fund has been established as a means to finance those journal articles, edited volumes and monographs that are not covered by such contracts. The HHU publication infrastructure is also constantly expanding in order to enable the independent publication of Open Access Journals and Monographs. The grants requested in the program "Open Access Publication Funding" will make it possible to support and expand the central funding of open access publications. Furthermore, a workflow for the central, systematic and transparent reporting of publication costs will be developed and implemented. This project will be backed up by the introduction of a university bibliography that will record publications at the HHU. Communication measures to further disseminate the Open Access idea and especially the use of ORCID at the university will accompany this development.
