Since 2017, Trier University has offered an Open Access Publication Fund for the financing of articles in Open Access, managed by the University Library. Following the third funding phase, this fund will be made permanent from central university funds from 2023. In addition, funds are to be raised via the DFG successor programme "Open Access Publication Costs". In view of its distinctive profile in the humanities and social sciences, the Trier University wants to take advantage of the opportunity to also fund open access monographs / books in the future. At the same time, structures for monitoring publications and publication costs are to be established and strengthened in the period applied for, and the development of a transparent information budget is to be worked towards, as was most recently formulated in the recommendations of the German Council of Science and Humanities on the transformation of scientific publishing to Open Access in January 2022.
