Project Description

The aim of the project is to research new areas of application for thrust cone bearings. Due to the fact that pressure thrust cone bearing dimensioning in the high load range (λ≪10) has not yet been used to date, there are significant efficiency gains if edge bearing is avoided. For this extended application, limit values and load-carrying capacity reducing effects must be known exactly in order to be able to approach the geometry with confidence and to determine the most efficient geometry that is just barely able to bear load. Furthermore, equations for the fast analytical design are to be established, which allow the accessibility to thrust cone bearings technology for engineers. This shall be done by developing a freely accessible analytical calculation method.
