Project Details
Disease-overarching mechanisms of Treg-CNS interaction (B06)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 490846870
The exact regulation and routes of Treg cell invasion to the brain, the mechanisms of interaction with the injured brain tissue and its cellular interaction partners are still largely unknown. Due to many commonalities in specific neuroinflammatory pathways despite the obvious differences in disease etiology between stroke and multiple sclerosis, comparing these two important neurological diseases has great potential to uncover common mechanisms of Treg cell-dependent effects in CNS injury and recovery. The laboratories of the two Co-PIs have complementary resources and knowledge to identify both disease-specific and generalizable Treg-CNS mechanisms in neuroinflammation.
