The aim of this study is to investigate and quantify the hemodynamic effects of VA-ECMO therapy in patients in cardiogenic shock. For this purpose, invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic measurements during ECMO therapy during hospitalization will be performed on approximately 40 patients in a randomized controlled trial. The following sub-objectives are to be achieved: 1.) To determine cardiac work (pressure-volume curves) at different ECMO- flow rates 2.) Determination of the cardiovascular workload during different phases of the ECMO application during the hospital stay. 3.) Validation of the accuracy of the 3D echo in comparison to invasive measurements.
