Project Details
Allelic variants underlying fitness in different biotic environments (A05)
Subject Area
Plant Genetics and Genomics
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 491090170
Plants live in communities with other organisms, such as plants and microorganisms. Plants act as architects of their chemical soil environment. Via the release of metabolites, they influence the organisms around them. This project aims to characterize the allelic variants found in different Arabidopsis thaliana populations that determine the fitness of A. thaliana when growing in soil environments that have previously been exposed to maize plants that release benzoxazinoids. This project builds on a completed genome wide association study with more than 400 genotypes, which has led to the identification of candidate variants that may determine plant fitness in a soil-history specific manner.
