Aminoimidazolin-2-imine and the 1,8-disubstituted naphthalene scaffold in the chemistry of the elements aluminium und boron

Applicant Dr. René Frank
Subject Area Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 520572639

The project deals with the recently developed ligand class of aminoimidazoline-2-imines, which are employed in the complexation of the elements boron and aluminium. Based on previous findings from our group the archetypal representatives of iminoboranes with the parent B=NH motif will be synthesized and characterized by follow-up chemistry. The same ligand class also lents itself for the preparation of low valent Al(I) compounds (alumylenes), the chemistry of which will be explored. In a second, separate project part the elements aluminium and boron will be connected. The 1,8-disubstituted napththalene entity is presented in the generation of electron precise Al-B bonds, including the elaboration of further chemistry.
