Project Description

The aim of the project is to predict the process parameters of an induction hardening process for a given fatigue strength of shafts in the sense of a function-oriented production by inverting the process signature and the local fatigue strength calculation. The method will be evaluated using a sample component together with the industrial partner. The transfer project develops process signatures for the purely thermal processing of rotationally symmetrical components and uses the calculated local strengths and three-dimensional stress tensors to calculate the fatigue strength with the weakest-link model. The parameters for these calculations are determined by experimental investigations in various initial states and rotary bending tests in the induction-hardened state.
