Among the imaging devices used in hospitals, MRI provides arguably the broadest spectrum of contrast, facilitating insight into the human body´s morphology, composition, physiology, and microstructure. While the potential of MRI to gain insight into tissues beyond its visual characterization has been described, quantitative metrics are still challenging to derive in MRI imaging. Quantitative metrics, however, have been described as a highly valuable target to overcome limitations of qualitative assessments in MRI, e.g., for characterizing breast tissue in MRI or quantifying tissue sodium concentrations in patients. Thus, an increasing spectrum of quantitative parameters has been introduced in imaging, resulting in increasing data complexity and volume. Supporting the handling of these data resulting from imaging and data-driven research projects, to facilitate reproducible, standardized, and quality-controlled outcomes is necessary especially for complex and multidimensional quantitative signatures derived by modern imaging devices. The topic of support structures for data driven research in imaging has therefore become of increasing relevance for institutions and a dedicated focus for interdisciplinary research teams. This project aims at providing different support structures for the research unit in an agile way and to allow them to be adapted to the demands of the individual research projects. This includes establishing digital project management and an IT-/data-handling-infrastructure that considers the special requirements resulting from the interdisciplinary research unit in combination with specific requirements on data handling and processing of UHF MRI and its associated semantic data.
