3rd DFG Philosophy Symposium on "Morality and Time"

Subject Area Practical Philosophy
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 528196613

The DFG Philosophy Symposia are intended to promote - in a model and exemplary manner - philosophical discussions that rarely or never occur in everyday university life. With this, the DFG wants to react to specific problems of academic philosophy in the German-speaking world, especially to the increasing specialization and fragmentation of philosophical research and debate as well as to the varying and in some areas lacking thematically independent visibility of German philosophy abroad. The DFG Philosophy Symposia aim to counter these tendencies through the choice of topics and discussants, by bringing together representatives of different philosophical disciplines and methods in a productive dialogue. The Steering Group established by the DFG to oversee the Philosophy Symposia has asked the applicants to prepare the 3rd Philosophy Symposium on the topic of Morality and Time. After the first two DFG Philosophy Symposia discussed topics that are primarily located in the area of theoretical philosophy, the 3rd Philosophy Symposium will take up a topic of practical philosophy. It seeks to define more precisely the hitherto rarely reflected relationship between morality and time and at the same time takes a look at its many facets.
