Project Details
Role of GABAergic interneuron types in the encoding of local and global motion (A05)
Subject Area
Cognitive, Systems and Behavioural Neurobiology
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 514483642
In this project we aim to understand the roles different types of GABAergic interneurons play for the encoding of local and global motion. To this end we will use large scale electrophysiological recordings with Neuropixels probes across motion sensitive cortical areas, optogenetic identification and manipulations of different types of interneurons in awake, head-fixed mice performing a visually guided behavior. We will combine population-level analyses and network modelling to gain a more complete understanding of how interneurons contribute to the encoding of visual motion.
