Regulatory mechanisms linking chronic gut inflammation and bone loss (A01)

In project A01, we will analyze the nature of bone loss in IBD. The clinical observations suggest a gut-bone axis with gut-borne factors that mediate inflammatory bone loss. Also, immune cells can migrate from the gut to the bone and alter bone homeostasis. A01 aims to address the mechanisms that lead to bone loss in IBD and the role of impaired intestinal barrier function on bone.
