Project A03 investigates long-range ordered crystalline, supersolid or magnetic states of interacting Rydberg gases in optical lattices, as well as their formation and melting dynamics, based on dynamical mean-field theory and variational wave functions. We will also study polaronic quasiparticles, their transport and interband dynamics in periodic lattice potentials, both for atomic impurities in Bose-Einstein condensates and in hybrid ultracold atom-ion systems. A further focus will be on the expansion and dynamical arrest of strongly correlated bosons after quantum quenches, and their adiabatic cooling in frustrated optical lattices.
