DFG Junior Researcher Academy "Infection Medicine"

Subject Area Clinical Infectiology and Tropical Medicine
Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 532982804

The Young Scientists Academy "Infection Medicine" for natural scientists, veterinarians and physicians from fundamental to clinical science is intended to promote young scientists in infection medicine and to give them the opportunity to implement research ideas from their own scientific and/or clinical work. The focus will be on prevention, prophylaxis and therapy of infectious diseases as well as on mechanistic fundamental research in the field of infectious medicine and its translation. The primary goal of the Young Investigators Academy is to prepare young scientists for the independent implementation of research projects in order to formulate their first DFG proposal under close supervision and, if possible, to receive initial funding. Workshops are designed to give participants the opportunity to gain an overview of the broad spectrum of infectious medicine and to promote interdisciplinary exchange. The thematic focus on infectious medicine enables the participants to build up their own scientific network in order to strengthen the highly qualified young scientists in the interdisciplinary field of infectious medicine. The model of bringing together scientists, veterinarians and physicians strengthens the exchange between fundamental research and clinical care research. It also represents a central measure for identifying and promoting young scientists with outstanding academic potential for medical infection research.
