The aim of this project is to study numerically the interplay of spin and charge degrees of freedom in low dimensional correlated electron systems. In particular we will concentrate on the issue of lattices magnetic impurities embedded in a metallic host. This is relevant for the understanding of heavy electron systems als well as Kondo insulators. The prototype model to describe the above physics is the Kondo lattice Hamiltonian. Our motivation to tackle this subject is triggered by a novel numerical approach which enables us to use quantum Monte Carlo methods to carry out efficient simulations of the above mentioned model in arbitrary dimensions. This enables a series of interesting research subjects.
