Magnetic hybrid materials, that is,i.e. materials consisting of a non-magnetic matrix with magnetic particles embedded in it, offer immense potential for technical applications in which material properties must be specifically controlled by external stimuli. In order to be able to tailor-make appropriate materials, the causes for the magnetically induced changes in the material properties of the materials must be understood in detail. Decisive for these causes are the properties of the microstructures present in the materials as well as the magnetically induced changes in these microstructures, i.e.that is, the spatial arrangement and orientation of the magnetic particles, whose investigation is form the focus of this subproject. By means of x-ray microtomographic investigations, we intend want to record the microstructures in of magnetic hybrid materials elastomers in three spatial dimensions three-dimensionally and evaluate the mit with using methods of digital image processing methods. We correlate the obtained information obtained about on the microstructures and its their changes in the magnetic fields will be correlated with results from magnetorheological investigations on macroscopic samples. At the same time, the microstructural data serve both as an input information and as a benchmark for the theoretically working groups of the research group. As a special challenge, we want to follow/intend to elucidate in a time-resolved manner the process of structure formation process of anisotropic magnetic hybrid materials elastomers, that is, i.e. such materials that are polymerized in an external the magnetic field, in a time-resolved manner. Two complementary methods will be used for this purpose: On the one hand, investigations of development the process of structure formation is es stopped at different times during the process of times of the polymerization process, where we are in close contact with the other experimental group of the Research Unit. We supplement our observations by which have to be evaluated statistically, and o statistical evaluations. On the other hand, these are time-resolved investigations using a newly developed xX-ray tomographic method of single- particle tracking method, in which allows us to can trackfollow the three-dimensional motion of particles during the polymerization process. Furthermore, the transfer of the research topic into school practice will be investigated in collaboration with the didactics group of the Research Unit. Our objective is to enhance students' situational interest in STEM topics, exploiting authenticity of current research. This study will employ telepresence robots to enable for school classes remote laboratory visits. We aim at determining the extent to which variances in the impact of perceived authenticity on situational interest and variances in acquisition of knowledge can be attributed to the mode of laboratory visit (in-person or remote).
