The National Center of Excellence in Mechanics, Marocco, has recently been established at Casablanca, under the co-directorship of the project partner. The cooperation aims at incorporating mathematical expertise at the center, at an international level, and at inspiring the further development of mathematical concepts through solid applications from mechanics. Providing brilliant Moroccan PhD students and PostDocs with first rate access to the international research community in the field is an important consequence of this synergy. Specific research topics of our cooperation are a) Coupled oscillator bifurcations from equilibrium manifolds without parameters b) Homoclinic Melnikov calculations of higher approximation order and for higher-dimensional systems c) Quantitative interaction of time averaging with spatial homogenization.
