... It is the objective of this project to reconstruct the inversion of the NW German Block for the Albian - Masstrichtian interval on a high resolution scale. About 50 wells will be studied with respect to their micropalaeontology, lithofacies and geophysical parameters, in order to obstain six transects over the Pompeckj Block. It is the goal of this study to decipher the role of global, regional and local factors, i.e. sea-level changes, inversion and halotectonics. The observed phases of inversion will be viewed in a wider context (opening of the Bay of Biscay), as a case study for a young inversion structure.
