... In this context it is the primary objective of the proposed research project to determine additional parameters which elucidate the temperature history of this basin, in particular vitrinite reflectance and fission track data. The measured parameters should then be used to model and calibrate burial and temperature history of the LSB using conventional basin modelling software. Based on information on heating and cooling of the sedimentary sequence, a revised interpretation of the Bramsche Massif as the major geophysical and coalification anomaly may result which is supported by the available data set. The data and modelling results from this part of the LSB will finally be compared with those other parts of the Central European Basin and will be brought into the context of its tectono-sedimentary evolution.
