Autoimmune encephalitis is an immune-mediated condition that induces inflammation of the brain and a variety of neurological and psychiatric manifestations. This proposal focuses on three pivotal objectives: achieving a profound understanding of the pathophysiology of autoimmune encephalitis caused by autoantibodies and related disorders, improving the treatment options, and leveraging the capabilities of deep phenotyping combined with deep learning for predictive modelling of patient outcomes. Central to the therapeutic advancements proposed is the CAAR T cell approach, a novel therapeutic strategy capable of selectively targeting antigen-specific B cells. Concurrently, the proposal emphasizes the potential of advanced machine learning techniques in refining predictive models for both disease progression and treatment efficacy. By intertwining wet-lab and dry-lab techniques, the proposal aims to bridge the gap between current knowledge and the pressing challenges in the field. The ultimate vision is a transformative shift in how autoimmune encephalitis and related disorders are understood, treated, and predicted.
