Modulation of Liquid Phase Thermal Oxidation Catalysis using Optical Stimuli (A11#)

Subject Area Physical Chemistry of Solids and Surfaces, Material Characterisation
Technical Chemistry
Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 388390466

Project A11(N) aims at bridging thermal and electrocatalytic reaction conditions to elaborate fundamental insights into common structural motifs/catalytically active sites, facet-specific activities and reaction mechanisms in heterogeneously catalyzed liquid-phase oxidation. Therefore, this project will focus on the charge-carrier enhanced liquid-phase thermal oxidation of 2-propanol, cyclohexane, cyclohex¬ene, and ethylene glycol with CoxFe3-xO4 spinels allowing to reveal the influence of charge-carrier enhancement. The results of the proposed project will be fully integrated into the advances in identifying re¬action mechanisms and active sites in liquid-phase oxidation catalysis. The project will be carried out in strong collaboration with projects A01, A02, and A09(N), which study catalytic properties of metal oxides and the projects B03, C01, C03, and C05, which are essential to provide well-defined materials and elaborating their surface properties and their surface charge-carrier population.
