Study of Metallic Thin Films in Polymer Matrices
Applicant
Dr. Oliver Seeck
Subject Area

Term
from 2003 to 2006
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 5407606
Sandwiched metallic thin layers between two kinds of polymers which are put on smooth silicon substrates will be prepared. These layer systems will be characterized with surface sensitive techniques such as x-ray and neutron reflectivity and diffuse scattering using synchrotron radiation and neutron sources, grazing incidence diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The interfacial properties of these confined layer systems will be investigated systematically depending on the preparation conditions and the used materials. The final goal is to determine and to understand the exact conditions of preparation for the design of metallic thin films with well defined properties confined in a polymer matrix.
