Laserscanning microscope with FRAP module

Subject Area Medicine
Term Funded in 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 540948495

With the establishment as Professor of Molecular and Clinical Pharmacy at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg, a confocal laser scanning microscope with integrated FRAP-module is urgently needed for our research focus on the identification of novel inhibitors of the transcriptional coactivator MKL1 and -2 for tumor therapy. The planned microscope is a confocal laser scanning microscope with FRAP module. It is equipped with a heated CO2 incubation chamber with a motorised scanning stage so that living cell samples can be examined over long incubation periods. The unit is installed in a separate dark room (02.226 of the Chemikum). The planned microscope with an integrated FRAP module allows for the technology of Fluorescence Recovery after Pho-tobleaching (FRAP) to determine the nuclear import and export rate of MKL1/2 upon administration of newly synthesized MKL inhibitors.
