Final Report Abstract

From PFPT polymers, partially oxidized products could be obtained which contain both sulfoxide and sulfone groups in the polymer main chain. Sulfonation of these polymers led so far only to cross-linked products which made the formation of proton-conductive membranes from these polymers impossible up to now. Since the duration of this project was only 4 months/2 man-months, the time for obtaining a good proton-conductive and chemically stable membrane was too short. However, the obtained results were promising, and we think that it is worth to continue this scientific work – creation of sulfonated and partially fluorinated poly(sulfone)s in a new project.
